Sidney Myer Creative Fellowships Nomination

Goal

We believe there is a strong connection between the arts, the humanities and a healthy community.

The Sidney Myer Fund plays a significant role in upholding the integrity of Australia's cultural life by directly supporting outstanding artists and cultural thinkers at a significant point in their early-mid career.

Priority Areas

The Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship initiative is an annual program which supports individual artists, arts workers and thought leaders in the humanities, including those working in literature

Fellowships are intended for artists at the early-mid point of their career - which is deemed to be at between seven and fifteen years of creative practice.

Fellowships will be awarded with consideration to two criteria: outstanding talent and exceptional courage, both of which will relate specifically to the nominee’s artistic practice.

About the Fellowships

Successful Fellows will receive untied grants of $80,000 per year for two years.  Recipients will be asked to provide a brief report to the Trustees of the Sidney Myer Fund at the end of the first and final year of the Fellowship.

Grant recipients are expected to spend the majority of their time in Australia over the two year granting period.

Grant recipients must be nominated to receive a Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship.  The nominating party can be an industry colleague, artist, arts manager, or someone otherwise appropriate to speak to the value of the nominee’s work.

Artists cannot nominate themselves for a Fellowship, and cannot be nominated by a member of their family.

Previously unsuccessful nominees may be renominated in subsequent years.

The selection process is a competitive one and this form sets out the details and requirements of the nomination.

Please note, Creative Fellowships are awarded to nominated artists who are in no way beholden to the nominator.

Nominees and nominators should read the Frequently Asked Questions page  click here before completing this Nomination Form.
